Got the Black Friday blues? No worries - you can find monochrome alternatives such as "Black Coffee" and "Back to Black" on my album! If you're battling through today's shoppers, you can pick it up in Tower Records Dublin (Dawson St & O'Connell St). It'll make a lovely Christmas pressie, honest! Or if you want to avoid the madness altogether, you can download it from the link below. Spread the word, 'tis the season to be jazzy x

The Return of Austin Durack , Singer Songwriter
at The Acoustic Club, The White House, Limerick
Thurs December 4th
For over ten years now Austin’s guitar music is being played on
national radio. His albums Dreams and Soft Guitars (2002), A Guitar
Journey (2008), Drops Of Jazz (2012) and Fingerpicker (2014), feature
regularly on Radio 1, Lyric FM and Radio Na Gaeltachta.
However, he started out as a singer/songwriter. His very first songs were
performed by his group Jabberwocky, who won a major international
competition in 1975, appeared on The Late Late Show a year later
and toured Germany three times. With his first album, The Soldier
(1981), Austin embarked on a solo career and started touring Ireland
and Europe regularly. He released his first single, How Many Times in
1985. His follow up, A Beautiful Flight, was an airplay hit and led to
the release of his Heroes album in 1987. This one was on Crannog (a
sister label to Mary Coughlan’s Mystery Records) with distribution by
WEA. In 1989 his album High Road To Glory was released on Larrikin
Records, in Australia. What’s Another Continent (1996), featured the
best of his songs plus some new compositions. He performed in many
parts of Europe, South Africa, Peru and China, where his 1996 song
There’s A Wall, was published. He performed solo on TV shows The
Late Late Show (1986), Evening Extra and Nighthawks (both in 1989).
Austin is the special guest at The Acoustic Club, Limerick on Dec.4th
A return to his songs, has been on his mind for the last couple of years
and he feels that now the time is right. The reaction of people to his A
Beautiful Flight when it appeared on the 2012 Limerick On Record
compilation of the best of Limerick music (including Richard Harris,
The Cranberries etc) was a major factor in his decision. In 2004 Hot
Press said of his song, My Sweet Dream (from Dreams And Soft
Guitars ), “ My Sweet Dream could easily be a jazz standard in years to
come.” Austin will perform these and other originals, on his return to
his first love, which was that of performing his own songs, on December 4th.
in Limerick the 2014 city of culture.
