MUSIC NETWORK ANNOUNCES THE POSTPONEMENT OF ITS APRIL AND MAY 2020 NATIONAL

for November 2021, and US roots duo 10 String Symphony is rescheduled for
May 2021

30 MARCH 2020: Music Network regrets to announce the postponement of its
April and May national tours due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.
Russian violin and piano duo Alena Baeva and Katia Skanavi were scheduled
to perform an 8-date tour of Ireland from 24th April – 3rd May. Plans are
now underway to reschedule this tour for November 2021. US folk duo 10
String Symphony was scheduled for an 11-date tour from 6th – 17th May.
This tour has now been postponed until May 2021. Music Network aims to
announce full details of all new tour dates in early summer. Ticket holders
will be contacted by the venues and promoters through which they booked.

Music Network’s CEO Sharon Rollston said /“Due to current
circumstances, unfortunately it has been necessary to cancel our
forthcoming April and May tours. However, we are pleased to have been able
to work with both the artists involved and our partner promoters to
reschedule both of these tours for November 2021 and May 2021
respectively.”/

Music-lovers will also have an opportunity to see Alena Baeva perform from
her home during a special online performance for Music Network’s
audiences. Alena will be joined by her husband, pianist Vadym Kholodenko,
for a 30-minute concert broadcast on Music Network’s digital channels on
Saturday 25th April, 7pm. The programme for the concert will include violin
and piano masterworks as well as the world premiere performance of
/Release/, a new Music Network commission from Irish composer Finola
Merivale. Viewers will also have the chance to hear from Finola Merivale in
a short Composer Insight Session during the broadcast.

Sharon Rollston added:/ “We look forward to bringing wonderful musicians
to audiences around the country in the not too distant future. In the
meantime, we will continue to support musicians and keep the music playing
for our audiences through our digital platforms.”/

Details of a second online performance featuring our May touring artists
will be announced shortly.

The Beatles began a three-month residency at The Top Ten Club, Hamburg, playing 92 straight nights. The group played for seven hours a night on weekdays and eight hours at weekends with a fifteen-minute break every hour. It was during this visit that Astrid Kirchherr cut Stuart Sutcliffe's hair into the style destined to become known as the "Beatle haircut" which The Beatles later adopted themselves.

The Who recorded an appearance for Top Of The Pops at the Manchester television studio. The band then played a gig supporting Donovan at The Town Hall, Wembley, with Rod Stewart and the Soul Agents appearing at the bottom of the bill.

The Troggs recorded 'Wild Thing' at Regent Sound Studio in London. The song went on to be a No.1 US and No.2 UK hit in June the following year. The track was recorded in one complete take (take two).

At a photo session at Bob Whitaker's studio in London, The Beatles posed in white coats using sides of meat with mutilated and butchered dolls for the cover of their next American album, Yesterday and Today. After advance copies were sent to disc jockeys and record reviewers, negative reaction to the cover photo was so strong Capitol recalled 750,000 copies from distributors to replace the cover. The total cost to Capitol to replace the cover and promotional materials was $250,000, wiping out their initial profit.

The Rolling Stones kicked off a three-week European tour in Orebro, Sweden. Arriving in Copenhagen for the tour the group were delayed after customs officers search all their luggage for drugs.

While driving to New York for appearances on 'The Perry Como Show', and 'The Ed Sullivan Show', the car that Carl Perkins was traveling in was involved in an accident putting Perkins in hospital for several months. The singer received four broken ribs and a broken shoulder, his brother Jay was killed in the accident.

The Temptations released their second studio album Sing Smokey. As its name implies, it is composed entirely of songs written and produced by Smokey Robinson, and several other members of the Miracles as well. More importantly, it featured one of the well known Motown releases in its history 'My Girl'.

Bob Dylan released his fifth studio album Bringing It All Back Home. The album was the first of Dylan's albums to break into the US top 10, and it also topped the UK charts later that Spring. The lead-off track, 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' became Dylan's first single to chart in the US, peaking at No.39. The album's iconic cover, photographed by Daniel Kramer, features Sally Grossman, wife of Dylan's manager Albert Grossman, lounging in the background. The artefacts scattered around the room include vinyl LPs by The Impressions and Robert Johnson.

The Eagles released their third studio album On the Border the first Eagles album to feature guitarist Don Felder. Three singles were released from the album: 'Already Gone', 'James Dean' and 'Best of My Love'. A hidden message carved into the run out groove of some vinyl LPs reads: "He who hesitates is lunch".

Led Zeppelin were enjoying a six-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with Physical Graffiti the group's fourth US No.1 album. On its first day of release in the US, the album shipped a million copies – no other album in the history of Atlantic records had generated so many sales. Physical Graffiti has now been certified 16 times Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for US sales in excess of 16 million copies.

Pink Floyd received a Grammy nomination for Best Performance by a Rock Duo or Group for the song, but lost to Bob Seger's 'Against The Wind.'
